County launches new e-comment tool for council meetings – Los Alamos Reporter

COUNTY NEWSLETTER

Los Alamos County has announced the launch of a new eComment tool designed to increase public engagement at county council meetings. The eComment feature allows individuals to submit public comments online for upcoming council meetings once the agenda has been posted, usually the Friday before the meeting.

Online comments can be submitted until 12 noon on the day of the council meeting, and copies will be given to each councilor before the meeting begins. This tool enables residents to participate from anywhere.

The tool is available today with the agenda for the Council’s regular session on August 27, 2024. To leave a comment, visit Granicus website. Use the search filters to find the meeting with the published agenda and select “eComment” in the far right column. Agenda items open for public comment will be marked with a “comment” tag. After selecting the tag and adding a comment, first-time users will be prompted to register and verify their email. Users should check their junk or spam folders if the verification email is not in their inbox.

Powered by Granicus, eComment allows residents to review agenda item details, indicate their position on an item and leave comments from any device. After creating an account, users can log into the system whenever they want.

Deputy County Executive Linda Matteson expressed her enthusiasm for the launch, saying, “The new eComment feature is an important step forward in our commitment to improving public engagement. By incorporating tools like online commenting, residents can participate in local governance.”
