Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the Arab League, strongly condemned the massacre committed by Israeli occupation forces at dawn today at the Al-Tabin school in the Al-Daraj neighborhood of Gaza City. The school, which housed displaced people, was attacked, resulting in the death of over 100 Palestinians and the injury of hundreds of others.

In a statement today, Aboul Gheit described the massacre as “a cowardly act that tarnishes the reputation of the Israeli occupation army”. He emphasized that the killing of displaced civilians during dawn prayers is a crime that even surpasses the usual brutality of the Israeli army, showing a deep lack of conscience. He further condemned the ongoing genocidal war against Palestinians.

Aboul Gheit warned that continuing this war of extermination against Palestinians in Gaza essentially gives Israel a license to kill with impunity. He called on the international community to put real pressure on Israel to enter into serious negotiations, brokered for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, in exchange for a prisoner swap deal.

The Council of Muslim Elders, under the leadership of His Eminence Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, expresses its strong condemnation and condemnation of the Israeli occupation forces’ shelling of the Al-Tabin school, which provided shelter to displaced persons in Al- Daraj neighborhood, east of Gaza City, during their dawn prayers.

This attack resulted in the martyrdom of more than 100 Palestinians and left dozens seriously injured.

The Muslim Council of Elders strongly rejects the targeting of innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip and calls on the international community to take urgent action to end this humanitarian catastrophe.

The Council urges that all necessary measures be taken to end the violence in Gaza, deliver humanitarian aid and relief, provide protection to Palestinian civilians, launch an international investigation into this horrific massacre, hold the perpetrators accountable under international law and support the right of the Palestinian people to establish its independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
